Ingredients:
Lasagna Sheets (10-12 sheets)
For Bolognese sauce :
- 500g ground beef
- 1 large onion (finely chopped)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 400g canned tomatoes
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 2 bay leaves
- Salt and Pepper (to taste)
- A splash of red wine
For Bechamel Sauce –
- 500ml milk
- 50g butter
- 50g flour
- Nutmeg (a pinch)
Others –
- 200g freshly grated parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish
Instructions:
-
Start by making the Bolognese sauce. Brown the beef in a pan over medium heat, drain and set aside. In the same pan, sauté the onion and garlic until transparent. Add the tomatoes, tomato paste, bay leaves, and our previously browned beef. Pour in the wine and let it simmer for half an hour.
-
While the Bolognese sauce is cooking, proceed with the Bechamel sauce. Melt the butter in a pan, add the flour and stir until tey combine. Gradually add the milk and whisk continuously until it thickens. Sprinkle salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
-
Preheat the oven to 180°C. Spread a layer of Bolognese sauce at the bottom of a baking dish, follow it up with a layer of lasagna sheets, a layer of bechamel sauce, and a sprinkle of parmesan cheese. Repeat until all ingredients are used up.
-
Bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes or until the top is golden and bubbling. Allow it to rest for 10 minutes after baking.
-
Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil leaves and a sprinkle of parmesan cheese. Unwind and delve into the heart of Italy with every bite.
