Now, let’s take a look at what you’ll need to create this mouthwatering dessert.

Ingredients:

  • 6 egg yolks

  • ¾ cup granulated sugar

  • 2/3 cup milk

  • 1 ¼ cups heavy cream

  • ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract

  • 8 ounces mascarpone cheese

  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled

  • 2 tablespoons rum or brandy (optional)

  • 24 ladyfingers savoiardi

  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder for dusting

Instructions:

  1. First, in a medium saucepan, whisk together egg yolks and sugar until well blended. Add in the milk and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture boils. Allow to boil for one minute, then remove from the heat and cool slightly.

  2. In a separate bowl, whip heavy cream and vanilla until soft peaks form. Add in mascarpone cheese and whip until smooth and well combined.

  3. Add the slightly cooled yolk mixture into the cream cheese mixture and stir until your cream filling is smooth and creamy.

  4. Now, in a small dish, combine your cooled coffee and rum or brandy. Dip each ladyfinger into this mixture (don’t soak them, just submerge briefly) and arrange a layer at the bottom of your serving dish (an 8×8 inch dish is perfect).

  5. Spoon half of your cream filling over the first layer of ladyfingers.

  6. Repeat these steps, adding a second layer of coffee-dipped ladyfingers, followed by the remaining cream filling.

  7. To finish, dust the top of the dessert lightly with cocoa powder.

  8. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours (or overnight, if time allows) to let the flavors blend together.

And there you have it – Traditional Italian Tiramisu right at your fingertips. This recipe serves 6-8, so it’s perfect for sharing (or not!). Enjoy it with a hot cup of espresso and revel in the rich flavors.
