Spaghetti Aglio e Olio: A Classic Italian pasta dish

Spaghetti Aglio e Olio

Hello Everyone!

Today we’ll be diving into the world of Italian cuisine with a traditional, easy-to-make dish: Spaghetti Aglio e Olio, or spaghetti with garlic and oil. This dish is the epitome of simplicity, highlighting the authentic, robust flavors of a few key ingredients. Unlike most pasta dishes, it doesn’t require lengthy cooking or a laundry list of ingredients. Believe me, the results are absolutely divine.

Ingredients:
– 400g spaghetti
– 5 cloves garlic, finely sliced
– 1 tsp red chili flakes (optional)
– 1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil
– Salt and freshly ground pepper
– Freshly grated Parmesan cheese
– Freshly chopped parsley

Instructions:
1. Cook the spaghetti in salted boiling water until it is al dente.
2. While the spaghetti is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the finely sliced garlic and cook until it’s fragrant and lightly golden.
3. If you like a hint of heat in your dishes, this is where you’d add the red chili flakes.
4. Reserve a cup of pasta water before you drain the spaghetti.
5. Transfer the cooked spaghetti to the pan with the garlicky oil. Toss until the spaghetti is well coated. Add a little bit of the reserved pasta water if the dish seems dry.
6. Season with salt, fresh cracked pepper according to taste. Add fresh parsley and mix again.
7. Finally, serve your pasta with a generous dusting of freshly grated Parmesan cheese on top.

Voilà! In less than 30 minutes, you’ve created a truly gourmet Italian dish! Pair your Spaghetti Aglio e Olio with a glass of white wine and fresh, crusty bread for an unforgettable dining experience.

This recipe is proof that sometimes, less is more. The fewer ingredients allow each flavor – the nuttiness of the garlic, the smoothness of the olive oil, and the sharpness of the Parmesan – to shine through.

Happy Cooking!
