Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup of water
- 1/2 cup of whole milk
- 1 stick unsalted butter (1/2 cup)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Instructions:
Choux Pastry:
-
Heat your oven to 425°F (220 °C). Line a baking tray.
-
In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine water, milk, and butter. Stir until butter is melted and the mixture starts to simmer.
-
Remove from the heat, and immediately stir in the flour and salt with a wooden spoon, until a ball of dough forms.
-
Return the pan to heat and cook over low heat for about 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly to dry out the dough.
-
Transfer the dough to a large mixing bowl and let it cool for about 5 minutes.
-
Beat in the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each one, until dough is smooth and glossy.
-
Scoop rounds of dough onto the lined baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, until puffs are golden and hollow inside.
Vanilla Cream:
-
Beat the heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
-
Once the choux pastry puffs have cooled down, slice off the top of each puff and fill with the vanilla cream using a piping bag.
These luscious, cream-filled spheres of choux pastry are a real treat, and the best part is, they’re not complicated to make at all. Impress your guests, or yourself (because you deserve it), with this fancy-looking dessert that’s secretly simple to put together! So go ahead, roll those sleeves up, and get baking!
